Couples' cosmetic surgery patients tell their stor

One of the best aspects of being in a happy relationship is sharing experiences with your loved one. That's why some pairs of lovebirds decide to go through cosmetic plastic surgery together.

One such couple, a husband and wife, recently sat down with ABC news to discuss their experience going under the knife.

Heather and David Robertson have been together for 18 years. Though they were both young and attractive when they met in their 30s, their bodies have inevitably changed as the years have passed. Heather mothered four children, while David put on 50 pounds and gained a double chin. Recently, Heather decided to do something about it, and elected to undergo plastic surgery.

"If anybody deserves to have a tummy tuck, I think she deserves to get one" David told the news source about his reaction to Heather's choice. In fact, he decided to undergo a chin lift. "It's got to be a bonus. It can't hurt, right?"

Heather also has an optimistic outlook on the decision. She sees it as a "new chapter" in their life, the news source reports.

ABC was also able to catch up with the couple after their surgery. David had his procedure first, and after six weeks, has shed his extra chin. Heather's procedure was also a success - she’s trimmed off the fat associated with having four children.

The trend of couples' cosmetic surgery is a result of the increasing popularity of plastic surgery among both men and women. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, men underwent nearly 800,000 cosmetic procedures in 2011. For women, the figure was much higher, at 8.4 million procedures.
