Curves are in. While some women may be interested in liposuction to get rid of unwanted fat, and others may choose to undergo breast lifts to enhance the look of their chests, there is one cosmetic surgery that is becoming popular, and it involves an entirely different part of the body: the buttock
According to a recent article in the Toronto Sun, California plastic surgeons are seeing an increase in patients seeking buttock enhancements.
"I just knew that I was unhappy," one patient who underwent a butt lift, identified only as Kristina, told the news source. "And you know I did something for myself, something that did make me happy. And I feel great."
Kristina received what her plastic surgeon referred to as an "S-Curve Buttock Lift" operation. This procedure does not involve implants, but instead transplants fat from other parts of the body to increase the size and shape of the buttock. The Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon told the news outlet that he's carried out about 700 of such operations.
So what is causing the increase of butt enhancement surgeries? The doctor speculates that Hollywood may be to blame, especially in the California area.
"A lot of people focused more on breasts - for the buttock to be a focus of body shaping is definitely very new," he explained to the news source. A number of curvy female celebrities may have women wanting to see the same look on their own derriere.
Patients who desire a new look for their entire lower body have options beyond just a butt enhancement, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. A lower body lift not only tackles the loose, sagging skin around the butt, but it also can enhance the appearance of one's hips and thighs.
